What is the festival?
The Girona Independent Film Festival is an annual event organized by the Girona Independent Film Association, held from June 6 to June 15 in the historic city of Girona. This festival was created with the aim of supporting independent feature film filmmakers who do not have a distributor. It is a space dedicated to showcasing emerging talent and offering a platform for selected works to reach a wider audience.

Festival Vision
To become a leading supporter of independent cinema at both national and international levels.
To promote diversity and originality in fiction cinema.
To establish itself, in the medium term, as a marketplace or meeting point between local authors from the Girona region and professionals in the audiovisual sector to facilitate the theatrical release of their projects.

RULES & REGULATIONS
- 1. FESTIVAL OBJECTIVE
- 2. DATES AND LOCATION
- Festival dates: June 12-15
- Location: Girona, Cataluña
- Screenings and activities: Held at the Truffaut Cinema in Girona
- 3. PARTICIPATION CONDITIONS
3.1 General Requirements
- Independent fiction feature films without a distribution contract in Spain are eligible.
- Films must have a minimum duration of 70 minutes.
- Both national and international productions are accepted.
- Special consideration will be given to narrative originality and cinematic quality.
3.2 Language and Subtitles
- Films must be presented in their original version.
- If the language is neither Catalan nor Spanish, subtitles in one of these two languages must be included.
3.3 Registration Process
- Submissions must be made through the festival's website or via Festhome.
- The submission deadline is April 31.
- Participants must provide a complete technical sheet of the film.
- 4. SELECTION PROCESS
- Feature films will be evaluated by a selection committee composed of festival organizers and distribution professionals.
- Four finalist feature films will be selected for the official competition.
- 5. AWARDS
5.1 Best Film Award
- The winning film will receive:
- Commercial screening: Exhibition in theaters of the Promio chain, specialized in independent cinema.
- Guaranteed distribution: Through a specialized company, ensuring its commercial release in Spain within a maximum of 12 months.
- 6. JURY
The jury will be composed of four professionals from the film industry:
- A representative from an independent film distribution company.
- A renowned director.
- A member of the festival organization.
- A film critic.
- The jury's decision is final.
- 7. FESTIVAL PROGRAM
- Thursday, June 12: Pre-screening of a film from the Adicine chain.
- Friday, June 13: Screening of two competing feature films.
- Saturday, June 14: Screening of the remaining two competing feature films and a masterclass by a guest filmmaker.
- Sunday, June 15: Special screening by a renowned filmmaker, closing ceremony, and awards presentation.
- 8. GENERAL CONDITIONS
- Submitting a film to the festival implies acceptance of these rules.
- The organization may use excerpts from selected films for festival promotion.
- Participants guarantee they own the rights to exhibit the submitted works.
